I forgot how irritating it can be to look for jobs…and I’m not even doing that full-time yet. I’m sure surfing Craigslist and Mandy.com won’t be so bad if I’m surfing those sites from a quaint little cafe in the Village.
…until I begin my life as a New Yorker. I’ve been practicing by taking light rail to work…except the light rail is way cleaner, quieter, and comfortable-er. I even went to a coffee shop and busted out my brand spankin’ new MacBook Pro today. I opened up my screenwriting program and typed a line or two. Pretentious, I know…but I gotta represent, naw meen?!
But yeah, I’d say things are going pretty well. VC Filmfest is next week so I’m gearing up for a pretty exciting experience. I’m getting all these random invitations to all these mixer/networking events – one of which is a directors-only breakfast at the DGA theater.
Should be fun – shake a few hands, exchange few business cards, throw a couple back w/ industry-folk.

Except for the opening and closing night slots, I’m guessing there isn’t a more prime slot out there. I mean, c’mon…9 PM on a Saturday night?! Obviously this is a big deal – this slot has the potential of attracting the largest number of people. It’s right after dinner and right before going out.
This has been a good week for CM. First the award and now I hear of the awesome slot we get. I’m getting excited!
i figured i’d save you all the drama of a long, drawn out post…so there you have it. as of March 31, 2007, Cereal Monogamy is an award-winning digital short. out of 170+ entries, CM was selected as a finalist. out of 9 awards, we snag one of them. how crazy is that?!
it’s a bit surreal to talk about it because i actually didn’t witness the announcement (Tess and a few of her friends were able to attend in my stead) in fact, i don’t even really know if it’s true since Tess called me after midnight and it was officially April Fool’s Day in NY. but apparently, they gave plaques for all the winners and Tess was asked to come and take it for me. i’ll have to get her to write up her own account – then i’ll post that.
