2 miles an hour so everybody sees you…

So I’m working on this Hungarian feature film that’s in town for a few days to shoot NYC exteriors, and I got to work with a process trailer for the first time. For those who are unfamiliar, it’s the trailer thingy they put cars on when filming scenes that take place inside moving vehicles. It looks like this:

Big ups to the grips who built this kick ass rig!

My new favorite quote

Taken from Adam Lauridsen, the author of a Warriors fan blog I often read.

There’s no faster way to drive into a ditch than swerving back and forth with indecision when faced with a fork in the road.

The author was writing about how the Warriors should approach their future, but applies perfectly to everyday life and the decisions we make – both big and small.

fruits of labor

Since I’m still new to the film production scene, a lot of my jobs are on independent/student shorts and/or low budget projects that will never ever, EVER be seen by anyone. Some of the jobs I’ve worked promised to compensate me with copy and credit. I’ve never received a copy. And of course, I can’t really determine if I was given credit because I’VE NEVER RECEIVED A COPY.

But whatever. I’m not writing this to complain about that. I’m actually gonna be able to show people what I’ve been working on! Here are links to some of the music videos on which I was hired as the Key Grip earlier this year:

Jigsaw Soul – “Cockroach Hotel
Director – Christopher Piazza
Cinematographer – Jon Fordham

Semi-Precious Weapons – “Her Hair is on Fire
Director – Pamela Romanowsky
Cinematographer – Jon Fordham

I also received word that Chrisette Michele’s “Love Is You” is currently airing on VH1 Soul. (I’m DVRing an hour of VH1 Soul programming to confirm.)

ADDENDUM: I have confirmed the Chrisette Michele video is indeed airing on VH1 Soul. I saw it on a show called VH1 Soul Player and plays at the top of the show as part of World Premiere Monday. Check it out if you can.

Things I don’t get in NY

In no particular order:

- the sound of rustling leaves as the breeze blows
- fresh air
(you can probably get the above at Central Park, but it’s different. I’m sitting on BobaDave’s patio getting all this. There’s no way I could get the above while hanging out on the fire escape.)
- wide, open, and even sidewalks on which to ride my Sector
- carne asada super burritos from Taquería Cancun
- scallop quesadillas, breaded halibut tacos, and shrimp burritos from Día de Pesca
- carnitas super burritos from Taquería La Bamba
- fresh produce

I guess it’s pretty obvious that it’s nice to be back in the Bay. Is it weird that half of my list is related to Mexican food?
